– Crystal Palace defender survived a car crash that saw his G-Wagon destroyed

– The Senegal defender suffered injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and remains in hospital

– The crash which involved two cars occurred close to Heathrow airport on Sunday

Senegal and Crystal Palace star Pape Souare was involved in a horrific car accident on the M4 motorway close to the Heathrow Airport

According to the Mirror UK, the crash occurred on Sunday at around 12.10pm and the left back has to be airlifted to hospital following the horror crash.

The accident involved a two-car crash as Souare’s car smashed into the central reservation.

The defender was driving a Mercedes G63 (G-Wagon) and Crystal Palace confirmed Souare suffered injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and remains in hospital.

The defender is understood to have been cut out of the vehicle before being taken to an east London hospital for treatment.

Eye-witnesses at the scene said the Mercedes appeared to have crashed into the central reservation.

Soaure has played three times in the Premier League this season and 56 times for the club since signing from French side Lille in 2015.

A Crystal Palace spokesman said: “Crystal Palace Football Club regret to confirm that Pape Souare was yesterday involved in a car accident and taken to hospital in London.


“The player has sustained injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and will remain in hospital whilst he receives treatment.

“The club are liaising closely with the hospital on his progress and we obviously wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with Pape and his family at this time.”
